Dear Colleagues!
Every year, on June 27, our beloved country celebrates a great and sacred holiday – National Unity Day – with special solemnity. This day is not only a historic celebration for the Tajik people but also a symbol of the revival of national statehood, the establishment of peace and stability, and the triumph of reason and wisdom over war and division.
We all know well that thanks to the steadfastness and firm will of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon – the General Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and National Accord was signed on June 27, 1997, opening a new chapter in the history of our state. This historic peace document symbolizes unity, solidarity, and cohesion of the nation, the victory of wisdom and the triumph of peace, and laid the foundation for realizing great plans and noble goals for the future.
Regarding the significance of this important document in the history of our national statehood, the Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, rightly said that the Peace Agreement stands alongside the Declaration of State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. If the Declaration officially granted our country independence and sovereignty, then National Unity ensured peace and harmony in our homeland. Without this peace and unity, our sovereignty could have been threatened. These words by the architect of peace and unity fully express the immense importance of peace and national unity for our country and people.
Indeed, National Unity, as a symbol of victory and happiness, has infused the Tajik people with new strength and hope for a bright and peaceful future. This historic event strengthened the feelings of respect for our beloved Tajikistan and its sacred values in the hearts of citizens and inspired confidence that the ancient Tajik nation could only engage in constructive work through this saving idea and leave a prosperous and beautiful homeland as a legacy for future generations. This unique achievement has now become an integral part of our people's life and plays a major role in the political, economic, social, and cultural development of our country, compelling us to protect and cherish it more than ever before. National Unity has not only brought security and stability to the region but also laid the groundwork for the development of national statehood. Therefore, National Unity Day is one of the most important events in the history of our homeland.
The historic and great service of the Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, lies in extinguishing the flames of civil war, establishing a culture of peace, and, with a warm sense of patriotism and care for the fate and future of the nation, saving the country from the threat of destruction and preserving its territorial integrity. As a result of these heroic efforts, today our country enjoys comprehensive security and thriving development. The peace of the Tajik people is a guiding star for a bright future and a historic testament to the existence of the state and nation.
Dear Colleagues!
It is important to note that the honorable people of Tajikistan deeply appreciate the significance of this fundamental pillar of statehood and national unity. As the Leader of the Nation has said:
“Over the years, we have come to deeply understand that national unity is the most important factor in social development, the primary condition for the advancement of the economy, social life, and culture of our people. That is why we consider the protection of independence and national unity among our humane missions. Today, it is especially necessary to turn the idea of peace and unity into a reliable pillar of independence and widely promote it among youth as a condition for the security of society and the stability of the state.”
Today, the civic duty of each of us and the entire people is to protect the lofty ideals of national unity and state sovereignty, to strive for cohesion and unity, and to prevent discord and division.
Each of us – regardless of our profession or work – is responsible for the development of our homeland, the stability of the state, fostering an atmosphere of mutual understanding, and progress in our respective fields.
Once again, I sincerely congratulate you all on National Unity Day and wish you lasting health, family happiness, and new successes in your work.
May national unity and our state sovereignty be eternal and inviolable.
Long live National Unity!
