On 15 July 2026, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarali, participated in and delivered remarks at the Joint High-Level Event entitled "Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development: Innovation, Inclusion, and Resilience", held in New York City.
In his remarks, the Minister noted that, under the guidance and directives of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, the years 2025–2030 have been declared the "Years of Digital Economy and Innovation Development". He further emphasized that Tajikistan is the first country in Central Asia to adopt the National Artificial Intelligence Development Strategy through 2040.
The Minister also highlighted that, at the initiative of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution entitled "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Creating New Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Central Asia."
Furthermore, it was emphasized that artificial intelligence contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), enhances the efficiency of public administration, and promotes inclusive economic development.
The event is expected to contribute to strengthening international cooperation, attracting investment and grant financing, and supporting the implementation of innovative projects in the field of artificial intelligence.
