On 25 May 2026, within the framework of the Fourth Dushanbe Conference on the implementation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028”, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan hosted a High-Level Forum entitled “Strengthening Water Initiatives through South-South and Triangular Cooperation”, chaired by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarali.
The Forum was attended by representatives of foreign states, United Nations entities, international organizations, the diplomatic corps, academic circles, and development partners.
In his address, Abdurahmonzoda A. S. noted that the High-Level Forum on “Strengthening Water Initiatives through South-South and Triangular Cooperation” is being convened as a continuation of the international water initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan, which are consistently promoted under the direct leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, at the United Nations and other international platforms.
It is precisely through such forums that issues related to water resources management are elevated to the global level, while the role of the Republic of Tajikistan as a state initiating dialogue on key sustainable development issues is significantly strengthened.
During the Forum, representatives of international organizations delivered presentations emphasizing the importance of South-South and triangular cooperation as effective mechanisms for the exchange of knowledge, experience, and innovative solutions aimed at advancing the global water agenda.
At the conclusion of the Forum, the participants expressed their readiness to further strengthen international cooperation and coordinate joint efforts toward the implementation of the global water agenda and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
