On January 7, 2026, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade held a meeting to clarify the Address of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, to the Majlisi Oli of the country "On the Main Directions of the Domestic and Foreign Policy of the Republic" of December 16, 2025, and a reporting and election meeting of the Economist primary organization of the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarali, Chairman of the PDPT Executive Committee in Dushanbe Shohiyon Abdurahim, Chairman of the PDPT Executive Committee in Ismoili Somoni District Kurbonzoda Ubaidullo Mahmadali, and staff of the central office.
Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade noted that the Address of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan is an important strategic document defining the main directions for the country's sustainable socioeconomic development, strengthening foreign policy, and improving the population's standard of living and quality of life. It was emphasized that over the past ten years, the implementation of state programs has ensured the stability of macroeconomic indicators and achieved sustainable growth in the national economy.
During this period, the gross domestic product increased 3.4-fold, and the average annual growth rate of the national economy was 7.6 percent. To ensure the country's sustainable socioeconomic development, more than 670 billion somoni have been allocated from all sources of funding, including 159 billion somoni in foreign investment. At the same time, GDP per capita increased 2.7-fold, from 6,000 somoni in 2015 to 16,400 somoni in 2025.
During this period, the country's population increased by 26 percent to 10.7 million, life expectancy increased from 70 to 77 years, and the poverty rate fell to 19 percent. Population income also increased more than sixfold, reaching 165 billion somoni in 2025. In 2025, the country's gross domestic product reached 173 billion somoni, and the real growth rate of the national economy was 8.4 percent.
Abdurahmonzoda A. S. emphasized that in the Address of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon to the Majlisi Oli, ministries and departments, as well as executive authorities, were instructed to ensure economic growth of at least 8 percent in 2026 and to maintain the stability of key macroeconomic indicators in subsequent years.
The meeting continued with a report on the activities of the PDPT Economist primary organization for 2025, the results of which were assessed accordingly. In accordance with the adopted decisions, with the unanimous support of members of the primary party organization, Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarali was elected chairman of the PDPT Economist primary organization for the next term. The composition of the presidium was also determined.
At the end of the meeting, Shohiyon Abdurahim, Chairman of the PDPT Executive Committee in Dushanbe, emphasized the party's role in strengthening peace and national unity, the country's socioeconomic development, and the education of youth, calling on party members to be even more effective.
Furthermore, at the end of the meeting, responsible officials were given specific instructions for the timely and high-quality implementation of the action plan related to the implementation of the instructions and orders set out in the Address of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
