The Agency of Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan plays a key role in implementing state policy in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. Within the framework of the “Artificial Intelligence Development Strategy until 2040,” the Agency is actively promoting the adoption of AI for the sustainable development of the country and the region. Supported by a recent United Nations General Assembly resolution, this initiative encompasses cooperation with other Central Asian states as well as the advancement of AI in key sectors – agriculture, industry, healthcare, trade, and finance. The document emphasizes the importance of adhering to international law and the principles of a safe, inclusive, and open digital future.
A significant part of the initiatives is the creation of the Regional Artificial Intelligence Center for Central Asian countries in Dushanbe. The Center will facilitate knowledge exchange, specialist training, the development of educational programs, and self-regulation mechanisms for safe and reliable AI systems. The Agency is also implementing comprehensive digitalization projects aimed at bridging infrastructure gaps, strengthening human capacity, and fostering public-private partnerships. These measures are designed to create a favorable ecosystem for the adoption of innovative solutions and to accelerate the digital transformation of Tajikistan and the entire region. To this end, the Agency has established an Interagency Commission on Artificial Intelligence Regulation, tasked with coordinating the implementation of national policy in this area and supporting the effective execution of the AI Development Strategy for the period until 2040.
