On May 21, the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Chairman of the city of Dushanbe, and the President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, Honorable Rustami Emomali, participated and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the digital exhibition entitled “Threads of Tradition: Celebrating the Cultural Heritage of Tajikistan”, held at the famous Artechouse gallery in New York.
The exhibition was presented as an immersive projection — a high-tech multimedia environment that created a full sensory experience by projecting visuals onto the walls, floor, and ceiling. Combined with sound, light, and motion, it gave visitors the impression of being inside a digital world, thereby enhancing the cultural context of the displayed materials.
The exhibition was designed as an interactive project aimed at broadly showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Tajik nation. Visitors were able not only to see but also to feel the atmosphere of Tajik tradition — through the use of modern digital technology.
At the entrance to the exhibition space, accompanied by the enchanting sounds of the traditional musical instrument chang, visitors were greeted with displays of Tajik folk art: national clothing (including chakan), artistic woodcarving, traditional flatbread, antique utensils, drawings, paintings, and other items of decorative and applied arts.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Honorable Rustami Emomali stated:
“Tajikistan, as an ancient and unique land, has for millennia served as a center for dialogue among civilizations, a birthplace of brilliant poets, and a guardian of timeless traditions, making an invaluable contribution to the cultural treasury of humanity.”
UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner also spoke at the opening, expressing his appreciation for Tajikistan's contribution to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
The event brought together representatives from over 50 countries, and participants of the cultural forum expressed sincere admiration and were deeply and warmly impressed by their introduction to the folk crafts and culture of Tajikistan.
Overall, the exhibition reflected the ancient history and civilization, the rich spiritual and material culture of the Tajik people, their craftsmanship, creative spirit, and cultural uniqueness.
