On November 22, 2025, a round table dedicated to the State Flag Day of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in the hall of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, with the participation of employees of the central office, as well as heads and staff of the Academy’s structural divisions.
The event was attended by a Member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Tajikistan, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, Water Resources and Land — Fazliddin Ikromi, who delivered a speech.
At the beginning of the meeting, Vice President of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Tajikistan, Corresponding Member of TAAS, Amirshozoda Faizullo congratulated the participants on this significant occasion and spoke about the history and importance of the flag.
In his speech, Amirshozoda Faizullo noted that throughout human history banners, flags, and the “dirafsh” have been used as symbols of statehood.
The tradition of creating and raising a flag among our ancestors dates back to long before the Sassanid era, when the blacksmith Kova, turning his leather apron into a banner, rose up against the enemy. This story is described in the immortal work of Abulkosim Firdawsi, the Shahnameh — a masterpiece of patriotic literature and a symbol of nobility and courage — recounting Kova’s struggle against the bloodthirsty Zahhak. Since then, the flag has been honored as a symbol of freedom, statehood, and sovereignty among our ancestors.
As an independent state, the Republic of Tajikistan has its National Emblem, Anthem, Flag, Constitution, official language, and its own capital — the ever-green and youthful city of Dushanbe. Respecting and honoring these national symbols is the duty of every citizen.
Member of Parliament Fazliddin Ikromi, congratulating everyone on the Flag Day, emphasized the prestige and importance of our national flag.
It is a great honor and source of pride that today the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan flies on the buildings of major international and global organizations of which our country is a member. This indeed brings pride, inspiration, and respect to all our compatriots.
The State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan was adopted on November 24, 1992, and the State Flag Day was officially celebrated for the first time on November 24, 2009.
On August 30, 2011, in Dushanbe, the national flag of Tajikistan was raised on a special 165-meter flagpole, making it the tallest flagpole among the countries of the world and earning a Guinness World Record.
Today, the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan proudly flies both within the country and abroad, proclaiming to the world the existence of a young and independent state — the Republic of Tajikistan.
Later, TAAS employee Umron Azzamov and several staff members of the Academy’s subdivisions delivered congratulatory speeches and recited poems dedicated to the flag, delighting the participants.
In conclusion, TAAS academician and advisor to the president of the Academy, Komiljonzoda Davlatjon, stated that the month of November is a blessed and sacred month, as we have witnessed three major national holidays — Constitution Day, President’s Day, and State Flag Day. Celebrating these significant dates is a sign of respect and loyalty to the Motherland and national values.
Taking this opportunity, I sincerely congratulate you, dear compatriots, on the celebration of State Flag Day, and wish you good health, prosperity, peace, and abundance, as well as success in the noble mission of building and developing our beloved homeland.
We hope that the state of our noble nation, which endured centuries of foreign domination and at last breathed the air of freedom and independence, will remain eternal. May our national anthem always resound proudly, and may the State Flag of our country forever fly high!
