In the history of every nation, there are dates that become symbols of its destiny. For the people of Tajikistan, such a significant day is November 16 — President’s Day. This day honors the historic services of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and expresses deep respect for a wise leader and prominent statesman of the modern era.
As the Leader of the Nation emphasized:
“Our sacred duty is to protect and strengthen national statehood, peace, stability, complete unity, and the territorial integrity of the Motherland.”
In the early 1990s, when Tajikistan was engulfed in a civil war and stood on the brink of collapse, a leader emerged who, with strong will, political courage, and deep love for his homeland, managed to save the nation from destruction.
The historic words of Emomali Rahmon at the 16th Session of the Supreme Council remain a symbol of hope:
“For the sake of peace among Tajiks, I am ready to sacrifice even my life!”
These were not merely words but a pledge to the nation. Thanks to the persistent efforts of the Head of State, peace and national reconciliation were achieved, and the new Tajikistan began its path toward development and prosperity.
During independence, Tajikistan’s domestic and foreign policy under the Leader of the Nation has been aimed at sustainable development, social justice, and economic and cultural progress.
Over the years of independence, hundreds of vital facilities have been built, including the Rogun Hydropower Plant, called by the President “the project of the century.” This grand structure has become a symbol of self-confidence, unity, and the creative labor of the people of Tajikistan.
Emomali Rahmon stated:
“With our own hands we will build Tajikistan so that future generations proudly say that this Homeland was created by patriotic mothers and fathers.”
Today, Tajikistan is recognized internationally as a peaceful, active, and initiative-driven state. Thanks to the initiatives of the Leader of the Nation, the country has voiced its position on major global issues such as water, climate, security, and sustainable development.
“Tajikistan is a small country, but with a big heart and pure intentions for peace and cooperation,” said the Leader of the Nation.
One of Tajikistan’s major initiatives — the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” (2018–2028) — was approved by the United Nations, which highlights the global recognition of the wise policies of the Head of State.
Today, the people of Tajikistan proudly recall the leadership that strengthened unity, national identity, and patriotic spirit within society.
Inspired by the example of the Leader of the Nation, the youth are striving for knowledge, creativity, invention, and service to their country. As he noted:
“Youth is the future of the state. If they grow with knowledge, wisdom, and good morals, the nation will thrive.”
President’s Day is not simply a celebration of one individual — it is a celebration of Tajik statehood, a symbol of unity, peace, and national pride. This day calls for mutual understanding, hard work, and loyalty to the Motherland.
“Tajikistan is our common home. Protecting it, developing it, and upholding its dignity is the duty of each of us!” — Emomali Rahmon.
May this day always inspire us toward unity, love for the homeland, and responsibility toward future generations. May Tajikistan, under the banner of peace and unity and under the leadership of the esteemed Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, continue to move confidently toward prosperity and progress!
