In the history of every nation, there are dates that become symbols of its destiny. For the people of Tajikistan, such a significant date is November 16 — President’s Day. This day is dedicated to honoring the historic achievements of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and represents respect for a wise leader and an outstanding statesman of the modern era.
As the Leader of the Nation has emphasized:
“Our sacred duty is to protect and strengthen national statehood, peace and stability, complete unity, and the territorial integrity of our Homeland.”
In the early 1990s, when Tajikistan was plunged into civil war, the nation stood on the brink of collapse. At that critical moment, a leader emerged who, through strong determination, political courage, and boundless love for the Motherland, managed to save the fragmented country from destruction.
The historic words of Emomali Rahmon at the 16th Session of the Supreme Council still resonate as a symbol of hope:
“For the sake of peace for the Tajiks, I am ready to sacrifice even my life!”
These were not merely words — they were an oath to the nation. As a result of consistent efforts by the Head of State, peace and national reconciliation were achieved, and a new Tajikistan embarked on the path of development and prosperity.
During the years of independence, the country’s domestic and foreign policy under the Leader’s guidance has been directed toward sustainable development, social justice, and economic and cultural progress.
Hundreds of vital infrastructure projects have been built, including the Rogun Hydropower Plant, which the President called “the project of the century for the nation.” This monumental structure symbolizes confidence, unity, and the creative labor of the Tajik people.
“We are building Tajikistan with our own hands so that future generations may proudly say that this Homeland was created by their patriotic fathers and mothers,” Emomali Rahmon stated.
Today, Tajikistan is recognized as a peace-loving, active, and initiative-driven state in the international arena. At the initiative of the Leader of the Nation, the country has raised its voice on important global issues such as water, climate, security, and sustainable development.
“Tajikistan is a small country, but with a big heart and pure intentions, it contributes to peace and cooperation in the world,” the Leader noted.
One of Tajikistan’s major international initiatives — the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” (2018–2028) — was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, reflecting global recognition of the country’s constructive policy.
Today, the people of Tajikistan proudly recall the progress achieved under their Leader’s guidance. Under Emomali Rahmon’s leadership, the concepts of unity, national identity, and pride have become deeply rooted in society.
Young people, following the example of the Leader of the Nation, are turning toward education, innovation, hard work, and service to the Motherland. As the President has emphasized:
“Youth are the future of the state. If they are educated with knowledge, wisdom, and moral values, the nation will be saved.”
President’s Day is not merely a celebration of one individual, but a celebration of Tajik statehood — a symbol of unity, peace, and national pride. It calls upon us to strengthen mutual understanding, diligence, and devotion to our Homeland.
“Tajikistan is our common home. Protecting it, developing it, and preserving its honor is the duty of each of us!” — Emomali Rahmon.
May this day always inspire us toward unity, love for our Motherland, and responsibility before future generations. May Tajikistan, under the banner of peace and unity and under the leadership of the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, confidently continue its path toward prosperity and progress!
