Dushanbe, 03.04.2025. The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, and President of the Central Asia Football Association, esteemed Rustami Emomali, met with the First Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees, President of the Olympic Committee of the State of Qatar, Mr. Jowan Bin Hamad Al Soni.
Esteemed Rustami Emomali warmly welcomed the distinguished guest to the Republic of Tajikistan and noted that fostering friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with the State of Qatar is one of the key priorities of Tajikistan's foreign policy.
During the meeting, the Mayor of Dushanbe, esteemed Rustami Emomali, congratulated Qatar on the successful hosting of an important international sports event — the AFC Asian Cup.
It was noted that sports serve as an effective means of promoting a healthy lifestyle for humanity, especially for young people, and it is very pleasing that, with the support of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, the sports sector, particularly Olympic sports, is in the process of development in our country.
Esteemed Rustami Emomali highly appreciated the role of the Association of National Olympic Committees and the Olympic Council of Asia in the active participation of Tajik athletes in world and regional Olympic games and proposed that wrestling (gushtering) should first be included in the Asian Olympic Games and then in the World Olympic Games.
There was confidence expressed that the Association of National Olympic Committees and the Olympic Council of Asia will support this proposal in the near future.
