Dushanbe, March 21, 2025.
Today, at the initiative of the Executive Body of the State Authority of the city of Dushanbe, solemn festive events were organized in the capital of the country, Dushanbe, to celebrate the International Navruz holiday in a dignified manner.
The city of Dushanbe was beautifully decorated in anticipation of the International Navruz-2025 holiday. In this regard, the streets, avenues, neighborhoods, and every home in the capital were fully prepared to welcome the holiday.
It should be noted that the main goal of celebrating this ancient holiday of our ancestors, Navruz, is to honor the sacred traditions, preserve customs, culture, and the ancient civilization of the Tajik people. The historical stages of the development of Navruz are the spiritual heritage of the Tajik nation and a chosen tradition of humanity, symbolizing the awakening of nature, the beginning of the new year, universal joy, the celebration of friendship, brotherhood, unity, folk rituals, dreams, and secular values in the spirit of the holiday mission of Navruz.
On the evening of March 20, representatives of various city structures and foreign tourists gathered at the State Institution “Victory Park and Forest Economy” to mark the arrival of the New Year of the ancestors by following national traditions, such as preparing sumanaka, spring dishes, lighting the festive bonfire, and performing other traditional rituals.
As part of the celebrations, on the morning of March 21, the residents and representatives of the four districts of the capital organized festive public festivities with cultural and entertainment programs, celebrating the arrival of the New Year of the ancestors—shining Navruz—with special solemnity and according to folk customs.
The Navruz caravans of the districts of the capital, accompanied by Navruz symbols—Boboi Dehqon (Grandfather Farmer) and Malika Bahor (Queen of Spring)—along with trumpeters and drummers, joyfully entered the festive venues through the four gates of the capital, announcing the arrival of the New Year of the ancestors to the residents and guests.
The residents of the Shohmansur district organized celebrations at the 800th Anniversary of Moscow Square (in front of the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after S. Aini), the Ismoili Somoni district at the “Ahorun” institution, the Firdavsi district at the Abu Kasim Firdavsi Cultural and Leisure Park, and the Sino district at the Omar Khayyam Cultural and Leisure Park.
In all the festive parks and recreation areas of the capital, with the participation of artists and residents of the districts of Dushanbe, cultural and entertainment events were held, as well as mass festivities in honor of the International Navruz holiday.
The Navruz festive programs reflected the beauty of the awakening nature of Tajikistan, the achievements of the Tajik people over the years of independence, its dreams and efforts towards progress. The holiday symbolized the victory of light over darkness, warmth over cold. The central theme of the celebrations was gratitude for independence, national state-building, and confident steps towards building a legal and secular state.
As part of the celebrations, exhibitions of works by artists and folk crafts such as pottery, metal engraving, knife making, wood carving, chest making, jewelry, blacksmithing, and other traditional crafts were organized.
In the framework of the events dedicated to the dignified celebration of International Navruz, the IV International Forum "Navruz in Dushanbe – a center of cultural and tourist cooperation" was held in the capital. The forum was attended by representatives of the Apparatus of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, heads of ministries and departments, the Executive Body of the State Authority of the city of Dushanbe, foreign guests, diplomatic corps representatives, experts, and researchers.
One of the symbols of Navruz are sports competitions. In this regard, on March 21, by order of the Mayor of Dushanbe, international horse racing competitions were held at the State Institution "Navruzgoh" with participants from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
Also, on the evening of March 21, a solemn concert was held at Istiklol (Independence) Square with the participation of famous artists of the country in honor of the Navruz holiday.
It can be confidently said that during the Navruz celebrations, the capital of Tajikistan, the city of Dushanbe, transformed into a city filled with love, kindness, sincerity, poetry, songs, children's laughter, and the chirping of nightingales.
It is especially worth noting that the celebration of International Navruz in all districts, neighborhoods, and microdistricts of the capital was accompanied by festive programs, artistic performances, a sense of pride for the Motherland, the prosperity of the country, respect for the rich heritage of our ancestors, and gratitude for the cultural policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, the honorable Emomali Rahmon, reflecting the high level of national self-consciousness and patriotism of all residents of the country.
May Navruz, this day, and all the days to come be blessed, full of happiness, joy, and goodness, dear esteemed compatriots!
