DUSHANBE, 19.03.2025. Today, at the initiative of the Executive Body of State Power of the city of Dushanbe, the IV International Forum "Nowruz in Dushanbe - A Center of Cultural and Tourist Connections" took place.
The forum was attended by representatives of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, heads of ministries and agencies, the Executive Body of State Power of the city of Dushanbe, foreign guests, representatives of the diplomatic corps, heads of departments and institutions, educational institutions of secondary and higher professional education, experts and researchers, heads of tourism companies, and media representatives.
The First Deputy Mayor of Dushanbe, Bakhtiyor Sharifi, welcomed the participants of the IV International Forum "Nowruz in Dushanbe - A Center of Cultural and Tourist Connections" and emphasized that the forum was held with the aim of promoting the universal values of the International Nowruz holiday, developing and expanding tourism, forming and promoting the national tourism brand, promoting tourist products, rational use of natural and recreational resources, and the historical and cultural heritage of the country, including the city of Dushanbe, as well as celebrating the International Nowruz Day.
It was noted that every year in the Republic of Tajikistan, especially in the capital city of Dushanbe, at the initiative of the constructive Mayor of Dushanbe, esteemed Rustam Emomali, the International Nowruz holiday is celebrated at a high level and with great enthusiasm. Various cultural, entertainment, scientific, practical, and mass sports events are organized within the framework of this holiday, such as carnival processions of Nowruz celebrations, colorful theatrical programs, the IV International Forum "Nowruz in Dushanbe – A Center of Cultural and Tourist Connections," the International Tourism Festival "Nowruz in Dushanbe," concert programs in cultural and recreational parks, national wrestling competitions "Gushtingiri," open competitions in horseback riding and Buzkashi.
Then, the forum participants delivered reports on topics such as: "Nowruz – Heritage of National Traditions," "The City of Dushanbe – A Repository of History and National Culture," "Nowruz of Iran," "Ancient Persian Texts on Nowruz," "Nowruz as the Basis of National Worldview and a Factor of National Consciousness," "Periparvashnoma" of Iran by Hassan Sadiqi on the topic "Nowruz Unites Peoples," and "The Role of National Holidays, Especially International Nowruz, in National Tourism Branding."
It was emphasized that due to the independence and efforts of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, the International Nowruz holiday has acquired new meaning and significance, becoming one of the best universal customs that can attract the attention of the global community, including tourists, to the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Tajik people and the country's tourist destinations.
One of the main goals of Tajikistan is to ensure the sustainable development of the tourism industry. To achieve this goal, it is important to form and promote a national tourism brand, marketing and promotion of tourism products, the preservation, development, and rational use of natural and recreational resources, as well as historical and cultural heritage.
Nowruz, Sada, Mehrgon, and Tirgone – as a connection between generations, uniting the past and the present, embodying the good traditions of ancestors and the unique heritage of our forebears – can serve as a representation of the country's history, culture, customs, and tourism opportunities as a national tourism brand.
In the modern world, Nowruz can become a key element of the strategy for branding the tourism image of Tajikistan. This idea could help the development of the tourism industry in the country and make Tajikistan more well-known and attractive on the international stage.
Analyses show that if the branding of Nowruz is correctly implemented, Tajikistan could become a cultural center and an attractive tourist destination. Through updates and alignment, Nowruz can become a symbol of national and international representation, contributing to the development of tourism, the economy, and culture.
