On March 28, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the People of the Republic of Tajikistan under the leadership of Minister of Health and Social Protection of the People Jamaliddin Abdullazoda held a working meeting on the analysis and review of the situation of maternal and child services in the country.
Deputy Minister Zulfiya Abdusamadzoda, heads of health departments of Dushanbe city, Khatlon region, heads of central departments and departments of the ministry, heads of a number of maternity hospitals and medical centers of the country participated in the meeting.It was emphasized that the issues of medical care of mother and child are currently in the center of attention of the state and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. Special attention was paid to the prevention of maternal and infant mortality.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population gave specific instructions to the responsible persons to further improve the level and quality of maternal and child health services, eliminate existing problems and shortcomings.
It will be recalled that on December 28, 2023, during his next Message to the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, recalled that the natural population growth due to the increase in births and decrease in deaths during the period of independence averages 2.1 percent per year.
During this period, the number of deaths per 1,000 people has decreased from 6 in 1991 to 3 in 2023. From 1991 to 2023, deaths in Tajikistan have decreased by 2 times.
