“Selection, Differentiation, and Collection of Immunogenic Strains of Animal Infectious Disease Pathogens”
Duration: 2026–2030
Project Leaders:
Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Academician of TAAS I. Sattori;
Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences I. Ismatov.
Participants:
6 researchers, including 1 Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, 1 Ph.D., and 4 junior researchers without academic titles.
Project Budget: 1,658,187 somoni.
Main Results and Innovations:
-
Selection and collection of 20 new immunogenic strains of animal and poultry pathogens;
-
Ensuring short-term and long-term preservation of the strain collection on microbiological media at 4 °C, in cryogenic conditions, as lyophilized samples and adsorbent preparations;
-
Provision of 6 new immunogenic strains from the collection for vaccine production against infectious diseases of animals and birds;
-
Development of a laboratory protocol for the production of vaccines against mixed enterobacterial infections in livestock (colibacillosis, salmonellosis, proteosis) and submission of the method to the institute’s production division;
-
Development of a laboratory procedure for producing diagnostic materials — sera and antigens — for serological differentiation of enterobacterial strains and transferring the method to production;
-
Preparation of methodological guidelines for isolation and differentiation of Pasteurella, Clostridium septicum (bradzot), and Bacillus anthracis (anthrax) pathogens in animals;
-
Obtaining 4 patents for new immunogenic strains and biological material preparation technologies;
-
Training of 2 Ph.D. and 1 Doctor of Veterinary Sciences.
2. Project:
“Epizootological Monitoring of Animal Infectious Diseases and Enrichment of the Pathogenic Microorganism Collection”
Duration: 2021–2025
Project Leader: Doctor of Veterinary Sciences M. Amirbekov.
Participants:
8 researchers, including 2 Doctors of Veterinary Sciences, 1 Candidate of Biological Sciences, and 5 research associates without academic titles.
Project Budget: 1,658,187 somoni.
Main Results and Innovations:
-
Establishment of a scientific research base at the Institute of Biological Safety for the creation of a National Repository of Pathogenic Microorganisms used in the production of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive biological products;
-
Study of biological and immunogenetic characteristics of pathogenic microorganisms isolated from livestock farms in Tajikistan;
-
Conducting research on collection, identification, storage, and molecular-genetic characterization of field strains, followed by issuing certificates for registered isolates;
-
Studying the distribution and prevalence of pathogenic microorganisms, including Clostridium species;
-
Development of guidelines and recommendations for anti-epizootic measures for prevention and control of infectious animal diseases;
-
Publication of scientific papers and obtaining patents for inventions based on the research results;
-
Training of young specialists with modern skills in diagnosis and epizootic monitoring of infectious animal diseases, and supporting their dissertation research and defense.
Conclusion:
The project is focused on a new research direction and contributes to the enrichment of the National Collection of Pathogenic Microorganisms, playing an important scientific and practical role in the development of biotechnology and veterinary science in the Republic of Tajikistan.
