Today, the regular meeting of the heads of antitrust authorities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states was held in Dushanbe. The meeting was initiated by the Anti-Monopoly Agency with the support of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, following the first meeting held in 2024 in the Republic of Tajikistan and the second meeting held in 2025 in Moscow, Russian Federation.
In recent years, cooperation among the antitrust authorities of the SCO member states has become one of the key areas of economic collaboration within the Organization. At this regular meeting, the heads of the antitrust authorities of the SCO member states participated both in-person and online to exchange views.
The organization of such events provides a favorable opportunity to share experiences and discuss pressing issues related to competition policy.
Under modern conditions, ensuring fair and effective competition is of particular importance. It was emphasized at the meeting that the rapid development of the digital economy, e-commerce, cross-border trade, and investment cooperation requires the further improvement of antitrust regulation and the strengthening of cooperation between the competent authorities of the member states.
Today, the SCO member states face a number of common issues in the field of competition policy. The rapid development of the digital economy, the growing role of digital platforms and e-commerce, the increasing importance of data as an economic resource, and the emergence of new business models demand the continuous adaptation and improvement of competition policy and antitrust regulation to meet contemporary requirements.
The parties expressed confidence that such events will contribute to the further development of multilateral cooperation among antitrust authorities within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
