There Are No Arrears in Pension Payments
On 22 July 2026, a press conference was held at the Agency for Social Insurance and Pensions under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to review the results of its activities during the first half of 2026. The event was held in accordance with the Plan for the Organization and Conduct of Press Conferences in Ministries and Agencies, Enterprises, Institutions and Organizations, as well as in the executive bodies of state authority of GBAO, the regions, Dushanbe, cities and districts, concerning the results of the first half of 2026, approved by the Head of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The press conference was attended by Darvesh Safarzoda, representative of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan; Abdurahmon Halimzod, Director of the Agency for Social Insurance and Pensions; Deputy Directors; heads of departments and divisions of the Agency’s central office; and representatives of the mass media.
Opening the press conference, Abdurahmon Halimzod, Director of the Agency for Social Insurance and Pensions under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, briefed journalists on the results of the Agency’s activities during the first half of 2026.
It was noted that during the reporting period, expenditures from the social insurance and pension budget amounted to 2.9743 billion somoni, representing an increase of 241.4 million somoni compared with the same period in 2025. In particular, 2.6841 billion somoni was allocated for pension payments, which is 198.4 million somoni more than during the same period of the previous year. There are currently no arrears in pension payments in the country.
It was also reported that, according to preliminary data, expenditures from social tax revenues for the payment of social benefits at enterprises and institutions across the country amounted to 267.6 million somoni during the first six months of the current year.
In line with the consistent guidance of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, accelerated digitalization aimed at ensuring transparency in the sector remains one of the Agency’s priority areas, and the Agency is taking relevant measures in this direction.
“Within the framework of effective cooperation with the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies, the Agency developed the ‘Unified State Register of Pensioners’ programme. Under this programme, since August 2025, pension payments have been fully carried out centrally through Amonatbank throughout the country. The programme contributes to improving service delivery, ensuring transparency in the processing of pension claims and reducing the time required for pension payments, as well as eliminating cases of receiving pensions from two different sources,” the Director of the Agency stated.
Abdurahmon Halimzod further emphasized that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population, the Agency has introduced the “Puli Hushmand” programme for registering and establishing the fact of citizens’ deaths and, consequently, automatically suspending and terminating pension payments.
The “Puli Hushmand” programme makes it possible to immediately suspend pension payments and eliminate long-standing problems related to the timely termination of pension payments following the death of a pensioner.
At the end of the press conference, representatives of the mass media asked questions of the Agency’s management, to which the responsible officials provided precise and comprehensive answers.
