“Recommendations for Advancing Scientific Research in the Department of Selection (Breeding) and Meat Livestock Technology”
To improve the level and quality of scientific research under this project, it is necessary to continue and expand scientific, breeding, and technological studies in cooperation with base farms and relevant institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan in the following areas:
- improving the type of Tajik meat-producing livestock, studying the hereditary characteristics, productivity, and adaptability of imported meat cattle breeds;
- preserving and increasing the population of yaks of the Zeravshan ecotype under the conditions of base individual and breeding farms (Kuhistoni Mastchoh and Ayni districts), as well as improving the Pamiri ecotype of yaks under the agro-climatic conditions of the Lakhsh and Baljuvon districts;
- taking practical measures to strengthen research in the field of horse breeding in the republic, particularly for the further development of the Tajik riding and racing horse breed;
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan is respectfully requested to support the implementation of scientific, breeding, and selection work plans in base farms by facilitating access to breeding materials (pedigree breeding livestock and genetic materials) from abroad, with the aim of improving locally developed breeds and types, through the State Comprehensive Program for Livestock Development as well as international development partnership projects.
