Tajikistan is a unique modern tourist attraction, as it has not only an extensive cultural and historical heritage, but also a favorable geographical location with a variety of natural landscapes, recreational areas, unique flora and fauna.
The territory of Tajikistan since ancient times was on the important historical routes of the Great Silk Road, the route connecting the East and the West.
Modern Tajikistan is a mountainous country with absolute heights from 300 to 7495 meters above sea level. 93% of the country's territory is made up of mountain ranges belonging to the Pamir, Gissar-Alai and Tien Shan mountain systems. These ranges are separated by the rich and fertile lands of the Fergana, Zerafshan, Vakhsh and Gissar valleys. The complexity of the relief and the large amplitude of the heights of the mountain systems determine the exceptional diversity of flora and fauna.
The rich history and rich cultural heritage, unique colorful nature and paradise places of Tajikistan are the basis for the development of tourism, which is one of the important areas of development of the national economy.
The air, the beauty of the wild nature attract tourists from all over the world. Due to the remoteness of human habitation, unique juniper and pistachio groves, the purity of rivers and lakes have been preserved. More than thirty species of fish live in the rivers and lakes of Tajikistan. Fishing is allowed for some animals, but many are listed in the Red Book.
There are three reserves and 14 wildlife sanctuaries in the republic. The Dashtijum Nature Reserve was recently created to preserve the last population of markhor in Central Asia.
Mountain forests and valuable species of animals are preserved in the Sarikhosor, Dashtimaydon, Childukhtaron and other wildlife sanctuaries.
Mountaineering, mountain sports, ecological, historical and cultural tourism and health resort treatment are actively developing in the country.

Entry to Tajikistan is carried out with a foreign passport; upon arrival, you must fill out a migration card.
Foreign citizens who are covered by the visa-free entry regime are required to register at the place of stay with the internal affairs bodies within 10 working days. When staying at a hotel, registration is carried out by hotel staff. However, it is worth keeping in mind that not all hotels in Tajikistan issue temporary registration - it is better to clarify this issue in advance. Payment for registration is usually not included in the cost of accommodation at the hotel, it is considered a separate service and is paid additionally. A registration certificate is a separate document with the seal of the migration service, which indicates the full name of the foreigner, his passport number and the validity period of the temporary registration.
The received registration certificate and migration card must be returned to the border control officers upon exit; the police can also check the registration on the street.
In order to visit attractions in the border areas (Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Khatlon Region, Pamir), you must obtain a special permit.
According to international estimates, the electronic visa system of Tajikistan is among the top five visa issuing systems and took fourth place.
